Survived but Never Reconciled Part II To Assimilate or not
Although, Part I is partially incorporated in Part II -I invite you to read Part I as this is the second in a series of two
In Part I, I asked: How has poverty replicated itself, exactly, (so precisely!) in every state of the union?
All that I said in Part I, may have you hear me when I say: The welfare to this population of people – which began and continued in these ‘poverty zones’ [slums in large cities across the nation] over GENERATIONS – did more harm than good. Irreparable harm.
Slavery decimated countless families over generations.. it affected entire countries – maybe most of all – the USA. [I say]The policies of the Governments of The United States were mired by poor judgments, greed, politics, struggles for power; even after a bitter and bloody civil war it seemed our governments showed little foresight and instituted policies which perpetuated unimaginable outcomes [yes, over many generations].
We need a national remedy – that is to say – efforts led by US Government – but embraced and brought to pass by every state and local government in the Nation.
I wrote this two part composition, more than, a few years ago – before this race to Socialism went into high gear – before the country went stupid crazy nuts as we have today. The response to cow to extreme radicals and call it – forgive me as I don’t know that they or I should call it – is NOT in any way what I advocate when I say we need to address this issue. The current way … is not my way – for sure. Frankly what is happening in America today has me a little speechless as I try to understand it all. I will post a few words soon. jl
American Citizens of African American Decent – through Slavery and so much wrong that followed- were wronged beyond explanation – intentionally or unintentionally – *across generations … .
*Unlike any other group in History with exception to the ‘Native American’ Peoples.
No record will say so – that the collective Governments of the United States – ‘awarded’ the ‘necessities of life’ to these families [‘reparations’?] and, then to their descendants in which one result was they ended up – in ghettos across our country.
I can’t help but to say that it was similar for those ‘native American peoples’ except one group found themselves in ghetto’s in Cities – the other in ghettos on Reservations. One group was murdered into submission – the other was only cheated and forced to do the same. Both truths break my heart.
And, the younger generations hated it! They rebelled – a little differently by each generation.
There was however, a sure ‘theme’ if you will accept that term. More and more each generation, those of African American decent chose to not be like the white establishment; young men in particular refused to assimilate by choice.
African Americans not only refused to assimilate – they did it decisively and with abject defiance – which grew stronger over generations [now hijacked and guided by radical political movements].
Coupled with additional generational issues – frustration, helplessness, and anger grew; black youth became even more opposite white middle class norms in the extreme – and, many became even less understood – through each successive generation.
Refusing to assimilate with such defiance and determined choice always seemed counterproductive to me; even so – I must add that as I look? Today? I get it! Assimilation was out of the question! To use this logic is another type of ‘Blaming The Victim’.
To make all this right will take love of a level I’m not sure America has in reserve right now. No one knew what to do then … no one knows what to do now …
I’m Just Sayin’ … . End Part II
